Welcome to The Cormorant - Cafe on the Pier, a delightful gem nestled on the scenic shores of Beauty Point, Tasmania. With its picturesque location at 200 Flinders St, this café isn’t just about a meal; it’s a total sensory experience that captures the natural beauty of the area.

The Cormorant offers a diverse menu that promises comfort and creativity, perfect for family gatherings or a cozy lunch after exploring nearby attractions like the Seahorse Farm. Imagine biting into a perfectly cooked salt & pepper calamari, where each tender piece melts in your mouth, leaving you craving more. Or, perhaps you’d prefer the decadence of their gourmet burger, which has left patrons like Belinda Winter raving about it being one of the best she’s ever had—a true testament to the culinary skills of the chef!

The atmosphere? Simply enchanting. The café boasts large windows that frame breathtaking views of the water, making it a relaxing spot to enjoy a meal. Even on a rainy day, as noted by Brendan Mitchell, the ambiance remains warm and inviting, welcoming families and friends alike. Whether you're stopping by for a casual morning tea with loved ones or indulging in a satisfying lunch, the friendly service ensures that every guest feels right at home.

While some visitors have noted that the coffee may not be the highlight of the menu, the overall feedback regarding the food is overwhelmingly positive, with high praises for menu staples like their Caesar salad and sumptuous macaroni cheese balls. The willingness of the chef to modify dishes for dietary preferences, as seen in Anna Wheeler’s experience, highlights the café’s commitment to customer satisfaction and creating a welcoming environment for all.

In a world where cafés attached to tourist venues might underwhelm, The Cormorant refreshingly exceeds expectations, offering quality food without the tourist trap pricing. If you're visiting the area, don’t hesitate to make this your dining destination. You’ll leave with not only a full belly but also a smile, as there’s nothing quite like enjoying great food with a view that genuinely takes your breath away.

We had a great lunch at the Coromant cafe. The service was really friendly, food was fantastic (Caesar salad, macaroni cheese balls, salt & pepper calamari), and the view is lovely. Even though the menu doesn’t mention gluten free options, the chef was happy to adapt many of the options at request, and both meals were 10/10. Calamari melted in mouth. We also loved visiting the seahorse farm afterwards.

Stopped here for morning tea with the family and the service was fantastic, the view amazing (even on a wet day), and the food excellent. Would come back here happily.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this cafe! Firstly the view is great. Normally I find cafes attached to tourist venues are just half hearted and overpriced but this place has pretty good food and it’s no more expensive than the average decent cafe. The coffee was definitely a let down though so avoid that but I can recommend the burger and the toasted ham and cheese sandwich.

We had the most delicious lunch we have had while travelling. The squid could have been served at Rockpool it was that good. My husband enjoyed his gourmet burger too saying it was probably the best burger he has ever had. The food is sensational and I don’t normally write food reviews but we just felt the need to do so this time. The views are also amazing Do not hesitate to enjoy a meal here as it is superb! All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming… it was the perfect lunch

Great location to grab a bite to eat in-between the tours for Seahorse World and Platypus House. Nice spacious area, lovely view and they also had chocolate next door! We just grabbed some chips with aioli and gravy. The cook had amazing customer service- the server/cashier I think had only just started and the experience was a little clunky with him.
